Participation

* Players will accumulate Grand Prix points based on their individual and team performance.
* The entry fee is $550 per player, granting access to 15 events out of the 30 events held throughout the season
* No player or team may participate in more than 15 events.
* Registration for each event is on a first-come, first-served basis and will open exactly one month before each event. Maximum capacity for both locations is 64 players. The event registration will be closed at that time. If you need to withdraw from the event, please notify the organizers as soon as possible, to allow players on the wait list to join. “No shows” that fail to let organizers know at least two hours before the start of the event, will be penalized from playing in further events.
* Each team must have a minimum of two players and a maximum of four players.

Event Procedures

Each event will be split into three groups based on age:

  • For 12 & Under League into the 8 & Under, 10 & Under, and 12 & Under groups.
  • For 18 & Under League into the 14 & Under, 16 & Under and 18 & Under groups.

Players may play up if they choose, but once they choose a section, they cannot move down during the League Season.

Players may move up during the year, but do not have to move up as they become older, as long as they were of correct age at the start of the season.

All events will be drop off only to accommodate players most comfortably. There will be no Team Room available during the events and parents and coaches are requested to wait outside the premises between rounds. This will insure that our locations will be mobile-free and potential cheating possibilities will be significantly reduced.

We expect all events to take place from 1-5pm, so coaches can take the time at our premises to analyze games with their students after the events, space permitting.  If needed, Chess Max Academy coaches will be present to help with the analysis of players’ games.

We hope this event will create a transformative environment for the talented chess youth that will bolster players’ efforts to become better chess players!
