Why choose the full semester
Regular classes connect instruction, practice, and review from one meeting to the next. Students begin at a suitable level and work from fundamentals toward calculation, game analysis, and competitive preparation when those goals fit the player.
Enrollment benefits
The two credit offers require eligible full-school-year in-person enrollment. Semester tuition below remains the current September–January Jackrabbit price.
Register for the full school year in an eligible in-person 60-minute class and receive $500 in bonus credit.
Register for the full school year in an eligible in-person 90-minute class and receive $800 in bonus credit.
Add a second group class each week and receive 50% off the full tuition price of that additional class.
Full-year credits are valid for one year toward private lessons, summer camps, or chess workshops. They are non-transferable and cannot be applied to payment for the second group class discounted by 50%. The $500 credit applies to eligible in-person 60-minute classes; the 45-minute Tots class and Online classes are not eligible.

What is included
Learning outcomes by level
Depending on placement and class level, students work on:
Learn piece movement and core rules, including castling, promotion, checkmate, and stalemate. Practice board vision, basic mating patterns, simple tactics, and introductory pawn endings.
Build comfort with notation and different time controls. Work on opening principles, tactical themes, mating patterns, king-and-pawn endings, and a more deliberate thinking process.
Study calculation and strategic themes such as pawn structure, open lines, key squares, exchanges, defense, prophylaxis, and maneuvering. Review mistakes and practice tournament-relevant decision-making.

Chess Max Academy’s West 79th location combines guided instruction, practice games, and review in a Grandmaster-founded learning environment. Students can move from fundamentals toward calculation, complete-game analysis, and tournament preparation as their experience and goals develop.
